WHAT IS CROSSFIT?
CONSTANTLY VARIED...
CrossFit is running, rowing, weight lifting, Olympic lifting, gymnastics, squatting, deadlifting, cycling, jumping, sprinting, climbing, balancing, pushing, pressing, core conditioning, skipping,..... The list is ENDLESS! Basically, CrossFit could involve any functional movements and are constantly varied from day to day and are used in as many combinations as possible.
...FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENTS...
CrossFit workouts generally involve 'functional movements'. 'Functional movements' refer to movements that you would see in daily life and are the safest, most efficient ways of moving through positions. For example, a deadlift could be representative of picking your keys up off of the floor. A squat mirrors the motion of sitting down and up off the toilet everyday, and a barbell clean mirrors the motion of hoisting your suitcase into an overhead compartment. CrossFit Thanet will help you perform these movements safely and with confidence which will ultimately be carried over into your everyday life.
...PERFORMED AT HIGH INTENSITY
CrossFit workouts generally last anything from 2-25 minutes. You may be sceptical that a shorter high intensive workout is more affective than a long enduring run on a machine, but results do not lie. High intensity produces results. Come and try it to see for yourself!
FITNESS FOR EVERYONE...
CrossFit is good for everyone. You could be new to fitness and exercise and looking to start something energetic to get you fit, you could be an athlete that is looking for a fitness program to improve your performance in your sport or you may just want to drop or gain some weight. Whatever your goals CrossFit can help! CrossFit is scalable for every level of fitness, so don't worry if you are a beginner, you won't be asked to do anything that is beyond you. Every movement has a number of progressions, so you will start at whatever level you are at and gradually work through the progressions as the weeks go by. You will improve! Just remember, you do not have to be fit and strong to start CrossFit, but you do have to start CrossFit to become fit and strong.
